GROW INTO THE CLINICIAN YOU'RE BECOMING.
LPC Supervision at Spencer Counseling Services
Clinical Supervision. Professional Development. Career Preparation.
Two Paths to Supervision
Track 1: Supervision Only | Track 2: Become a Spencer Associate
Your Path. Your Purpose. Our Support.
Whether you already have a clinical position or you're looking for the right environment to grow, Spencer Counseling Services offers two supervision pathways designed to meet you where you are-and help prepare you for where you're going.
Supervision is provided under the clinical leadership of Keyonne Spencer, LPC-S, Owner & Clinical Director of Spencer Counseling Services, who brings more than 15 years of experience in social services and behavioral health.
Our philosophy is simple:
Supervision should be more than completing hours.
It should strengthen your clinical judgment, challenge your thinking, develop your confidence, help you discover your professional identity, and prepare you for the realities of independent practice.

TRACK 2
THE SPENCER ASSOCIATE TRACK
$0 SUPERVISION FEE
Clinical Supervision + Caseload Development + Private Practice Experience
LPC Associates accepted into Track 2 become Spencer Associates—post-graduate clinicians who join the Spencer Counseling Services clinical team while completing their supervised journey toward independent licensure.
Spencer Associates have the opportunity to develop a virtual caseload of up to 15 clients, based on client availability, clinical appropriateness, Associate availability, referrals, and practice needs.
Because Spencer Associates provide clinical services through Spencer Counseling Services, clinical supervision is provided at no additional cost.
But the Spencer Associate Track is about much more than receiving clients.
LEARN HOW TO BUILD A PRACTICE—NOT JUST WORK IN ONE.
One of the goals of the Spencer Associate Track is to prepare emerging clinicians for the professional realities of mental health practice.
Spencer Associates are expected to take an active role in developing and maintaining their caseload rather than relying exclusively on referrals generated by Spencer Counseling Services.
Professional development may include:
- Creating a strong professional therapist profile
- Identifying and communicating clinical specialties
- Creating educational mental health content
- Participating in approved social media marketing
- Community and professional outreach
- Building relationships with referral sources
- Networking with other professionals
- Learning ethical mental health marketing
- Increasing professional visibility
- Learning client engagement and retention strategies
We don't just want Associates to learn how to see clients. We want them to understand how clients find them.
These skills are intentionally incorporated into the Spencer Associate experience because they remain valuable long after supervision ends—especially for clinicians interested in private practice.

DEVELOP YOUR CLINICAL VOICE
There is no single personality or therapeutic approach that makes someone an excellent counselor.
Associates are encouraged to explore different theories and interventions while identifying the approaches that complement their strengths and the needs of the clients they serve.
Supervision may incorporate:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Family Systems approaches
- Compassion-Focused approaches
- Trauma-informed care
- Other evidence-informed interventions appropriate to the client and clinician's scope of practice
The goal is not to create clinicians who practice exactly like their supervisor.
The goal is to help Associates develop the knowledge, judgment, ethics, confidence, and self-awareness necessary to become effective clinicians in their own right.
SUPERVISION WITH PURPOSE
You don't just earn your license. You grow into it.
At Spencer Counseling Services, supervision means learning how to think like a clinician—not simply accumulating hours.
We help emerging clinicians develop the ability to recognize when to ask more questions, when to consult, when something falls outside their scope, how to navigate ethical concerns, and how to make thoughtful clinical decisions.
Our goal is for Associates to complete supervision with more than the required hours.
We want them to leave with a stronger clinical identity, professional identity, and foundation for a sustainable career in mental health.
