Kelsey Yarbrough
About Kelsey
I am a graduate student at Lamar University in their Master of Science Marriage and Family Counseling program. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Studies in 2014 from Middle Tennessee State University. I have experience working with youth and families in several settings. In my past experience, I have educated youth and families on the importance of their Mental Health to maintain and set goals, cope with diagnoses, and medication management. In my down time, I enjoy running with my run club, working out, engaging in self-care, and spending time with loved ones. I strongly believe that the ideal therapeutic relationship is an important factor when it comes to receiving therapy. In that relationship, I believe that it is important to build trust, have communication, honesty and to work towards healing.
I utilize and work mostly with the solution-based focused theory, and integrate other approaches based on the issues that clients present that are aligned and beneficial to their healing and what the client wants to work towards.
With my approach to therapy, I come from a place of grace, opportunity, understanding and judgement free. It is important for my clients to know that our sessions are a safe place and that we are in this together to get to a place of healing and understanding and to work through the issues and make progress.
